Borough Council seeking Applicants for Council Vacancy

New Britain Borough is currently accepting applications from any Borough resident who has lived in the Borough for at least one year to fill a vacancy on the Borough’s 7-member Borough Council.

The term of the vacancy is from February 8th, 2022 (where Borough Council will meet to make the appointment) to Borough Council’s reorganization meeting in January 2024, to occur on the first Monday (or Tuesday, where Monday is a legal holiday).  Individuals who wish to serve beyond this time will need to follow the procedures for election to office.  General obligations include but are not limited to: participating in the monthly Borough Council meeting (held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30PM), serving as a liaison to one or more Borough committees (which meet once a month), dialoging with the Borough Manager regarding Borough business, and attending seasonal community events.

The Borough will be accepting applications until Friday, January 28th at 12pm.  Interested applicants shall submit a letter of interest to the Borough Manager via email to azimmerman@newbritainboro.com, or dropped off at the Borough administrative office at 45 Keeley Ave.  Any letters of interest received after this date and time will not be considered.  Applicants may submit with their letter of interest such relevant information as would aid Borough Council in its consideration, for example, a resume or information regarding the applicant’s community involvement.

Borough Council will meet on Tuesday, February 8th to make the appointment.  Information on attending Borough meetings is found on the homepage of the Borough website at least 24 hours prior to the meeting.  Applicants should plan on attending the February 8, 2022 meeting to discuss their interest in serving on Borough Council, and to address any questions that Borough Council or the public may have.
