The Central Bucks Regional Police Department is proud to be joining the “Blue Envelope Program” which was created to help those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as Police Officers in the event of a motor vehicle stop.
Created in Connecticut, and recently adopted by the Perkasie Borough PD, the program’s primary goals are to aid ASD drivers with document organization and to educate them about what to do and expect during a motor vehicle stop, so that the motorist as well as Police have a beneficial encounter. The envelope will hold a color photocopy of the individual’s driver’s license, vehicle registration card, insurance card, and an emergency contact card.
“Our Department has adopted a proactive approach to educating Officers about autism through ongoing training on how to recognize behavior/signs displayed and responding accordingly. The Blue Envelope Program is a way to reinforce this training and assists an ASD individual to know they will be treated with tolerance and understanding,” stated Chief Karl Knott.

Blue Envelopes are available at the CBRPD HQ,
229 N. Broad Street, Doylestown,
during business hours M-F 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
