Meeting Times
The Public Works Commission meets as needed.
Purpose
The Public Works Committee advises Borough Council and assists Borough staff on issues related to the safe and smooth operation, planning, and funding of public works and public services within the Borough.
Responsibilities
- Issues related to Borough streets, including stormwater management systems, traffic control, parking, snow removal, street sweeping, street patching and paving, striping, signage, street lighting, and any installation or maintenance of Borough owned curbs, sidewalks, or bike paths.
- Maintenance, renovations, and long-range planning related to buildings owned or leased by the Borough to ensure they are safe, effective, reliable, clean, code compliant, aesthetically pleasing, energy efficient, and environmentally friendly.
- Issues which affect public safety, including the identification of unsafe or hazardous conditions within the Borough and the recommendation and implementation of safe practices.
- Normal or urgent public safety concerns of the police, fire department, ambulance, or emergency management agencies.
Membership
There is no cap on the number of members, who may be Borough residents, business owners, or other interested persons. Up to three members of Borough Council may serve as voting members of this committee, including one member appointed to serve as liaison to the committee.
