Meeting Time
The Planning Commission meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM in Burkart Hall at 56 Keeley Avenue.
Purpose
The Planning Commission advises Borough Council on issues related to planning, land use regulation, and community development within the Borough. The Planning Commission shall, at the request of the Borough Council, have the power and shall be required to do and perform all actions requested by Borough Council pursuant to the provisions of Article II, Section 209.1 of the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code.
Responsibilities
- Review all land use, subdivision, and land development plans in the Borough and forward such plans to Borough Council for review and approval or denial of any given project.
- Prepare and present to Borough Council a zoning ordinance and make recommendations to the governing body on any proposed amendments to it.
- Prepare, recommend, and administer land use, subdivision, and development regulations for the Borough
- Work with the Bucks County Planning Commission to develop uniformity between New Britain Borough and the rest of Bucks County.
- Work with the Bucks County Planning Commission on updating the Borough’s Comprehensive Plan every ten years.
- Review the zoning ordinance, subdivision and land development ordinance, official map, provisions for planned residential development, and such other ordinances and regulations governing the development of land no less frequently than it reviews the comprehensive plan.
Membership
The Planning Commission shall be comprised of not less than three (3) nor more than nine (9), members, who must be residents of the Borough. No more than two members of the Planning Commission may be elected officials of the Borough.
