Meeting Time
The Parks and Recreation Committee meets the first Monday of each month at 7:30 PM in Burkart Hall located at 56 Keeley Avenue.
Purpose
The Parks and Recreation Committee advises Borough Council on all matters relating to the parks and open space of the Borough, excluding the Wilma Quinlan Nature Preserve, and provides, when necessary, for the organization and coordination of Borough recreational activities.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and conduct the maintenance, management, and improvement of Orchard Park.
- Periodically review, update, and present to Borough Council, a strategic plan for the long-term stewardship of Orchard Park.
- Oversee and conduct the management and supervision of the Borough’s community garden.
- Recommend rules and regulations for Borough parks.
- Coordinate, as necessary, specified Borough recreational activities.
- Coordinate, as necessary, with the multi-municipal Bike and Hike Committee.
Membership
The Parks & Recreation Committee shall be comprised of not less than five (5) nor more than nine (9) members. Members do not need to be Borough residents. Borough Council may appoint one member of Council to serve as a liaison to the committee, who may serve as a voting member. No more than three members of Borough Council may serve as members of this committee.
