Present were:
Peter LaMontagne, Winnie Binkley, Bob Binkley
The minutes from the previous meeting were reviewed and accepted.
Miriam’s Meadow. According to Peter, weed killing will be done in 2010 and planting in 2011. Larry Weaner has established a schedule and is working with Robin. He has been paid for his original design.
Miriams’s Funds. Peter has spoken with Lloyd Vansant, the Borough Treasurer, asking him to set up a separate account to keep track of dividends that have been reinvested. The projected expenses for the Meadow are $3,000 for plants and $4,000 for the meadow site work and preparation.
Nature Preserve Budget. According to Peter, there is nothing in the Borough budget for regular maintenance of the Nature Preserve. Bob suggested that we continue to budget $5,000. He also suggested that we ask Spring Valley Nurseries to clear multiflora roses from trees on the Matthews Avenue frontage. Bob also recommended that we do not do any clearing in the center section of the Nature Preserve. Spring Valley will be coming out in the next few weeks. Bob asked Peter about adding metal stakes on the Nature Preserve perimeter, possibly every 100 feet. Peter will talk to Franklin Bronze about decorative pipe alternatives.
Bridge Creek Farm. Peter will research the status of open land behind Bridge Creek Farm to see whether it is accessible to the public.
Grove Supply. Bob recommended that the Borough write a letter to the owners of Grove Supply on Matthews Avenue asking them to repairs ruts made by their trucks on Nature Preserve property.
Graffiti. Bob asked Peter to remind Robin about replacing signs that have been defaced by graffiti since the repaving of Landis Mill Road.
Clean-up Day. Peter recommended a volunteer Clean Up Day to clear vines and other invasives that are climbing trees. We chose Saturday, December 4th between 1 and 3 p.m.
We decided to reschedule the next meeting when we have new business to discuss.
