NORTH PENN WATER AUTHORITY CUSTOMERS
Annual inspection and flushing of fire hydrants increase public safety by insuring that hydrants will function when necessary. Flushing of hydrants also improves water quality. The Authority will be flushing and inspecting hydrants in the distribution system during the next seven weeks according to the following tentative schedule (schedule may change due to weather or other related conditions):
APRIL 6 through APRIL 22
LANSDALE, HATFIELD, & NEW BRITAIN BOROUGHS, HATFIELD & NEW BRITAIN TOWNSHIPS
Flushing will be done at night between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. and during the day between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. As a result of this procedure, some customers may notice a minor discoloration in the water and/or lower than normal water pressure.
If discoloration occurs, run the cold water for a few minutes. If the water does not clear up, turn off the water for 10 to 20 minutes and try the procedure again. If a problem persists, customers should contact the Authority office at (215) 855-3617, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. NORTH PENN WATER AUTHORITY (215) 855-3617 www.northpennwater.org
In order to fulfill our mission: to Preserve, Protect and Promote our Covered Bridges of Bucks County, we would like to establish a local Covered Bridge Watch group at many of our covered bridges. This would be a network of interested citizens and neighbors who frequent the bridge to be aware of any damage, graffiti, mischief or unsafe conditions at the bridge. Information on damage, mischief or unsafe conditions should be reported to the Bucks County Dispatcher at 215-348-3524. Ideally, that information could also be reported to a Watch Coordinator, as well as any routine news about the covered bridge, so the Bridge Watch network can be kept up to date.
In some cases, the local Bridge Watch members may wish to occasionally meet at the bridge for some clean-up, sprucing up, or such as near Christmas season, decorate with Christmas wreaths, etc. Our mission is to Preserve and Protect our remaining precious resources, our Covered Bridges!
